Mac: IDE doesn't start after the latest security update

We have an open issue logged at IDEA-155856, you can follow it for updates.

Current workarounds:

  • update to OSX 10.11 which fixes the problem
  • install Java 1.6 (it will not be used to run IDE, but is known to fix the bug)
  • disable custom keyboard layout in the keyboard preferences (if you have any in ~/Library/Keyboard Layouts).
  • Update to a new test build: 2016.1.2b. Available only for IntelliJ IDEA at the moment, other products will follow soon.


When this problem occurs, you get the "PRODUCT_NAME quit unexpectedly" error message and the following crash dump can be observed:
