Sync went wrong
Answered
I have set up a new macOS and installed PS and wanted to sync/download my settings I used before. But as I enabled "Settings Sync" in PS's Preferences, it said immediately pushing settings. So I guess all the default settings are now in the cloud and my settings are gone?
Is there any way I can get back my settings? I have a lot of custom settings :-/
(Have a backup of my old machine, if this helps to restore from local files.)

Hello samnet, sorry for the late reply. Could you please specify which IDE version you used before and which one you're using now?
It's the same version 2022.3
Thank you for the clarification. Looks like the bug you mentioned is fixed now (in the scope of this bug report in our YouTrack), so this situation shouldn't happen again if you update your IDE to at least 2022.3.3 release (or the new 2023.1 release introduced yesterday).
As you still have the backup of the IDE configuration directory from your old PC, copying these files to your new PC could be the easier way to restore settings. I recommend you disable the Settings Sync, close the IDE, copy files from the backup to the new IDE configuration directory, then start the IDE and enable the Settings Sync choosing the Push Settings to Account option in the process.
Olga, thanks. I copied the files from inside the config dir to the new config dir of 2023.1. Have seen my custom shortcuts and plugins are restored. But color scheme is set to Dracula, never used it and had a highly customized for a long time. Is this not inside the config dir stored as well?
samnet, the custom color scheme should be stored in the
colors
folder inside the configuration directory as the.icls
file. Please, check if it exists.Yeah, I guess I found it. It wasn't just not applied automatically. But some other data is still missing, like I had set another font size and line-height. While this is easy to enter manually, I don't know (yet) what still is missing. I found a sam_Formatting.xml
Where can I import this one? At Editor > Color Scheme > Import Scheme?
No, as I said before, color schemes are contained only in the
.icls
files. Unfortunately, I can't say what exactly is stored in the file with the custom name. You can share it using JetBrains Uploads (and post the ID you receive here) so I can take a look.Sorry, thought *_Formatting.xml is something made from PS. Here is the Upload ID
2023_04_06_kfydXD3rzc1XJnMpGmXFpz (file: _Formatting.xml)
samnet, the file you sent is the code style scheme. You can import it in the settings (see screenshot below) or copy it to the
codestyles
folder inside the IDE configuration directory and then select it in the IDE interface.
