Cannot start WebStorm 2016.3.2

please try starting WebStorm from cmd console using bin/WebStorm.bat - what is printed to console?

I have this same issue but on windows 10. I have tried removing, restarting, upgrading JDK. I get this error when running webstorm.bat -> java.lang.IllegalStateException: @NotNull method com/intellij/openapi/util/IconLoader.getIcon must not return null at com.intellij.openapi.util.IconLoader.getIcon(http://IconLoader.java:158 )

Hi Elena,

thanks for your help. I managed to start the program from the cmd line as you suggested. The problem was the XMX memory - I increased the number in the Webstorm settings file and not it's working. There is still an annoying problem though - every now and then, it freezes so the only solution is to restart. I tend to believe the problem might be the webstorm xml settings file (got modified by github when I did a previous commit, as I forgot to put it in the .git_ignore file). Can you please confirm how to rebuild the XML settings file.

@Kurtis, please provide your idea.log (https://intellij-support.jetbrains.com/hc/en-us/articles/207241085-Locating-IDE-log-files). Looks as if the installation is corrupted

@Remus, what XML settings file is meant? If you like to start with fresh configuration, try deleting `~\.WebStorm2016.3` folder
