Highlight then delete does not work Follow

Something happened with my curser. It is now a black blinking box, instead of a vertical line.
I have already tried going into preferences and toggling the text overwrite key. That changed the curser back to a vertical line, but it still does not behave normally. When I highlight text and press delete it doesn't delete the text, it only moves back the highlighted portion of text one character.
Please help

Please disable IdeaVim plugin on the File | Settings | Plugins tab.
