File type not correctly detected

Hello,

by accident I created a file without file extention.

No problem I thought and just renamed it...still not detected as HTML-File.

No problem I thought again and deleted it and created a new correct HTML-FIle...still not detected as HTML-File.

Renamed the file in filename2 and hey, HTML-File detected...renamed back not detected anymore :(

I could give it another name, but that would be out of the usaul scheme and that would be a solution I clearly wouldn't want.

But how can I fix it? Somewhere in the settings? Couldn't find anything and just want to continue on my coding.

Thank you,

Michael

Hi there,

  • Settings/Preferences | Editor | File Types
  • Find "Text" file type entry in top list (it's the default file type offered by IDE when when you create file with no extension .. so most likely you have blindly accepted it)
  • Find and delete offending pattern in the bottom list

If it will not help -- check file icon and try matching the File Type by icon.

I had the same problem.
The solution was similar as previously answered: Settings / Preferences | Editor | File Types
But then the pattern was found in Auto-detect file type by content. I removed the wrong file name pattern and everything now works correctly.
