How to find the project group related to an open file?

Answered

Using Xcode projects, we are used to the fact that files are placed in groups that do not necessarily correspond to physical directories - by default, Xcode puts all files into the project root, but the xcproject file stores information about the groups the files are in. AppCode does show these groups and the corresponding files - so far so good.

But now, I'm looking for a feature to find the "group" a file is in. Let's say I'm editing MyTableViewController.swift (opened via Shift+Cmd+O) which is located in the group(s) "MyApp/ViewController/MyTable". The project navigator does not resemble the group that the file belongs to nor can I see the exact group for that file. I need to *know* that the file is in that group and open them one by one.

Is there any way around that "issue"?

Hello, Dennis!

If I understand you correctly, you can either navigate to the current file in the project tree (Alt + F1, and then <Enter>), or, alternatively, enable tracking of the currently opened file (click the small gear icon in the project tool window caption, and select "Autoscroll to source" option there).

Does that help?

That's exactly what I was looking for - thanks a lot!
