PyCharm 2017.1 freezing on my iMac running 10.12.5

Since I updated to the 201x releases, PyCharm locks up and has to be force quit. It opens fine, and I can being to type, but within 1 minute or less it just stops responding and locks up. Has anyone else had this happen? Any ideas for a resolution?
