Synchronize global settings to already existing projects

Hi

Is it possible to synchronize global IntelliJ settings to already existing projects automatically?

I noticed, that the global settings are synchronized to the .idea project settings, when I create a new project. But when I change something in the global settings (e.g. setting a new Maven version), it's not applying to already existing projects. 

Is there a way to automatically synchronize all global settings to an already existing project (e.g. when opening the project)?
