Search Everywhere window disappears after loosing focus

Answered

The Search Everywhere (Shift-Shift) window disappears when I switch to another window. So it is impossible to copy information from the Search Everywhere window to another document. It also cannot be pinned or docked.

I would suggest the same behaviour as with the Find in Path window, that remains visible when loosing focus.

Also: I miss the Recent Searches in the Search Everywhere window.

Hello Chris,

Could you please describe your use case? What information do you copy from Search Everywhere window?

For instance: I used Search Everywhere to find database tables with a certain column name. In another document I copied/wrote down the table names. When I switched to the note-taking app, I lost the information from Search Everywhere.

Chris,

Currently there is no setting to keep Serach Everywhere opened on focus switch.

Feel  free to create feature request on YouTrack: http://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issues/IDEA.

Also: Search Everywhere remembers last 50 quires. Use left arrow key to access history and vote for https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-135609 to make it more handy.

I have the opposite issue: It does stay open after losing focus, but loses keyboard focus which is literally NEVER what I want (ie. I'm trying to edit my query but actually editing the file obscured from view underneath it)

@Nathan Smith are you sure you are referring to a Search everywhere (Shift + Shift)? Could you please provide a video capture of the problem and idea.log?
