PHPStorm 2017.3 64 bit won't start after upgrade

I've just upgraded to PhpStorm 2017.3 64 bit on Windows 10

Initially it restarted itself OK, but after closing it it won't run, even after restarting Windows.

I'm not convinced the upgrade worked completely, because I can't find a folder under C:\ with a name containing '2017.3'.

The only folders I can see are

C:\Program Files\JetBrains\PhpStorm 2017.1.2

which has a modification date of 04 Dec 2017 (which looks correct)

Double-clicking on

C:\Program Files\JetBrains\PhpStorm 2017.1.2\bin\phpstorm64.exe

doesn't run the program - nothing.

I'm now left with an (apparently) unusable installation.

Thanks in anticipation for any help!

Update: as I have to have this working,  I've now downloaded 2017.3 and re-installed it, retaining old settings etc & it now works. Annoying that I've had to do this.

Hi,

Sounds weird. Did you apply a patch upgrade?

Are there any errors in Help > Show Log in Explorer > idea.log at the time frame of the upgrade and further issues you've faced yesterday?

I have exactly the same problem after updating to 2017.3 on a 64 bit Win 10 machine. A "java_error_in_phpstorm" log gets written every time I try to run the application, but apart from this, nothing happens.

David, please try re-installation from a full package, does the issue persist?

I used the C:\Program Files\JetBrains\PhpStorm 2017.1.2\bin\phpstorm64.exe file and that did the trick. It looks like the update was successful, just the link from the start menu was faulty.

David, please reinstall IDE into an empty folder - that should address all the "weird" issues
