python_packages file in AppData Taking All My Disk Space

Hello, I am using PyCharm below and my computer just ran out of disk space. I found that this packages_v2 file has suddenly become very large, even though I haven't installed any packages in a while. Can I delete this file?

Hi Tyler,
Thank you for contacting PyCharm support.

Please update to 2023.1.2 as this bug has been fixed in the latest version.

I apologize for the inconvenience.

Kind regards,

Hi JetBrains team

I have the same problem as OP in this thread, only in my case, it's much more space taken up - more than 300 GB.

Now, I have installed the latest Community version, but no disc space has been cleared.

What do you suggest I do now?

Simon Rasmussen You can remove the file after you update it to the latest version. It shouldn't happen again

I should just delete the two JSON files? And will the new installation have all the relevant packages kept from the old?
The auto-update would only upgrade to an old version, so I downloaded the latest package installer and chose the installation option that keeps data from the previous installation.
