A giant repo hangs my PC

Hi,

I wrote a script to clone all my employer's repos to a local folder. I then open them all at once with WebStorm, so that  I can do regex search and other cool stuff. So far so good, but the PC usually hangs as a result, mouse pointer and all, necessitating a cold reboot. I've reduced memory to 4G, out of total 64G. it's still happening. 

I also have lots of plugins. Perhaps if I run a very thin instance of Webstorm, without plug-ins, it will help?
