Big Fat Bars between Editor & Result

Please tell me how to fix this. (why does that Services bar so thick ?)

Are you referring to the bar width in the services area? If so, the width can't be modified in this area.

I'm referring to those grey bars between the editor/console and service/result.

The bars have the expected width in this area section, and it's not adjustable from the UI settings.

I would also appreciate if the display was more compact, with less blank-space between areas.
