Hiding "Window Header" in macOS?

Hi Folks. I'm setting up a new Mac and I've installed IntelliJ IDEA 2023.2.5 (Ultimate Edition), but the interface looks new to me - presumably because the “new ui” is the default. Particularly bothersome is the excess use of vertical space at the top - what I think is called the https://www.jetbrains.com/help/idea/new-ui.html#window_header - I'd like to hide it. Referring to the attached screenshot, I'm talking about the horizontal area right of the red/yellow/green window controls in the upper left. I tried compact mode, which isn't much better. How do I do that? Thank you.

Hello, Matthew Cornell. The area you're speaking of should be the Main Toolbar:
Unfortunately, for now, there is no option to hide it, but it will be available in the next major release, 2023.3 (please see this feature request), which we expect to publish at the beginning of December.
Thanks for the pointer. I'll use the old UI until then. Surprising it took almost a year for it to be implemented. Maybe it doesn't bother most folks. In my case, screen real estate is precious because the more room to code the better. Also, I tend to use shortcuts instead of menus.
If I understand correctly, there could be difficulties in the implementation and research on how many of our users demand it took some time. Unfortunately, we can't implement each feature we received a request for due to our limited resources, but this one received a significant amount of upvotes and was added to the roadmap several months ago.
