File watcher failed repeatedly
Hi!
I'm running IntelliJ IDEA 2023.3 (Community Edition) Build #IC-233.11799.241 on Debian 6.0.8-1. I keep getting this “External file changes sync might be slow. File watcher failed repeatedly and has been disabled”. I checked the logs and I get this a buch of lines like this:
INFO - #c.i.o.v.i.l.NativeFileWatcherImpl - Starting file watcher: /<path>/idea-IC-233.11799.241/bin/
···fsnotifier
WARN - #c.i.o.v.i.l.NativeFileWatcherImpl - /<path>/idea-IC-233.11799.241/bin/fsnotifier: 1: Syntax error:
···")" unexpected
WARN - #c.i.o.v.i.l.NativeFileWatcherImpl - Watcher terminated with exit code 2
And then
WARN - #c.i.o.v.i.l.FileWatcher - File watcher failed repeatedly and has been disabled
I've checked and I've found no one reporting this error. Is there a way to fix it?
Thanks.

Please provide the logs (

), upload them (snapshot file and log files) to https://uploads.jetbrains.com/, provide their upload IDs here and we will investigate it.Where do you keep the project files? Is it a local file system?
Hi Jacky,
Sorry for not answering but I didn't see the message.
The problem is fixed. I think it was because I had installed the the version for another platform. Upon reinstalling (and getting it right this time, I guess) the warning stopped.
Thanks a lot!
Hi Jmchmt,

Could you please file a new report on our issue tracker: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/newIssue?project=IDEA? Also, please provide your IDE logs in the newly created issue, for further investigation. It is easier and more efficient to process issues in the issue tracker, than in the forum thread. Thanks!
