Turn off snap to new cell and other snapping behaviour
Hello,
An infuriating and confusing behaviour is that Dataspell will (1) snap to new cells, (2) snap to bottom of the notebook when hitting ‘run all’, and (3) other unexplained snapping behaviour when navigate around the notebook. Is there an option to turn any of this off? It's disorienting and annoying.

In addition, for any cell, when the cursor reaches the top or bottom line the view will snap and center on the cursor. This is extremely disorienting especially when a cell just has two lines.
I used to be bothered by this behavior too, but it seems they may have fixed it recently. What version are you using?
This behaviour as of 2023.3.3

Is still present and makes me use databricks over DS. No reason to use DS when it's trying to give me motion sickness. Also, let's say I move to the next cell down. The view only moves as much as it needs to to show the first line of the bottom cell at the bottom of the view. But when you go to the first or last line inside a cell, the view recenters. Why is there this inconsistent behaviour??
The principle that should be adhered to here is that if you hold up/down arrow keys, you should be scrolling line by line at the frequency of the key repeat. There should not be any unexplained and unpredictable jumping behaviour, which is what DS does when it centers the view every time the cursor hits the top or bottom of a cell.
Bump?
