double-click to expand tab
Answered
In a previous version of IDEA, with multiple window panes open, you could temporarily expand one of the panes by double-clicking one of its tabs. Then you could return to the previous size by double-clicking the tab again. I found that very useful. Is that feature available in 2024.1? I haven't been able to find a setting for it.

Thanks. I was able to find a solution based on the comments in that ticket.
For anyone who may come across this:
1. Go to:
Settings => Keymap => Main Menu => Window => Editor Tabs => Maximize Editor/Normalize Splits
2. Add double-click to list of shortcuts
Actually, that doesn't work for me. Double-clicking anywhere in an editor window causes the the window to expand. So I can't use double-click to select text without triggering this behavior.
Nadia Tarashkevich just to be clear, my issue is with editor tabs, not panels, as discussed in the ticket you linked.
Please share a screen recording of what exactly happens when you double-click on the editor tab header
Is there a way to add a recording to this interface? I only see images. I'll show with images as best I can. When I double-click on the “Main” editor tab in image 1 below, the window expands as shown in image 2. This is what I want. However, I get the same behavior if I double-click anywhere in that window. So if I, for example, double click the word “String,” the window expands.
Jonnie Dredge unfortunately, this is as expected. At the moment, we have no workaround for https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IJPL-156501/Double-clicking-on-Panel-no-longer-maximizes-it
Did you try disabling all non-bundled plugins?
