Split Vertical same file

I suppose my situation may be considered an edge case.  I do not use tabs, I navigate files by sidebar tree and CMD e or CMD + Shift + E.

Currently:

I split a vertical pane

I have the same file in both panes so I can work on two parts of the file.  I need this because I have some very long files and I am refactoring.

If I jump one pane to  another  (recent) file with CMD+E I cannot get back to the original file in the pane.  I have to close the pane, and resplit the other.

I want to be able to be able to use CMD + E or CMD + SHIFT + E in a pane irrespective of the file being active in the OTHER pane.
