FTP isn't saved

So I'm working on a project over the last 3 days and everyday when I go to upload some files I find that the FTP info that entered the day before hasn't been saved, even when I clicked the "Save Password" box.  However, it's not just the password, the only thing that is saved is the name of the connection.  The rest of details are gone with every restart of the application.

I'm sure that I'm doing something wrong, WebStorm's FTP functionality is pretty awful and way more complex than it ever needed to be.  So there is no doubt that I've missed something.

Can someone help?  It's pretty much impossible to get a question answered about any of these products unless you want to call a sales person.  So I'm hoping someone from the community can help.

Hi there,

You forgot to state your IDE version that you are using.

2016.2 -- works fine in this regard; 2016.3 EAP -- has such issue (first it forgets username and on next project opening the same happens with password as well). I'm using PhpStorm .. but code base is the same in both IDEs.

>>WebStorm's FTP functionality is pretty awful and way more complex than it ever needed to be.

No ideas -- I just setup FTP details (host; username; password; root folder), provide deployment path (just / ) and... that's it -- I'm just using it. Seems pretty straightforward to me (at least this is how it seems with the FTP servers that I have to deal with). Maybe you have more advanced setup/different FTP server software which requires more steps...

If you have technical issues (like this one) -- just contact Support -- the link is in the top right corner --- "Submit a request". I guess it can be used for general questions as well.

P.S. This is for PhpStorm .. but general functionality articles can be applied to WebStorm or another JetBrains' IDE as well: Tutorials - PhpStorm ; Tutorials - WebStorm

I thought the IDE was pretty clear considering I posted the message in the WebStorm forum.

As for the version, I tend to use the latest stable release, like everyone else.....  So I'm using 2016.2.3

PHPStorm has the same issue since PhpStorm 2016.3. It might be a KDE only problem, as it seems to me some kind of default keyring access issue.

I set the password, tick the remember option and its utterly useless, a moment later the password field is blank and it prompts for password again.

If I choose the the "Do not save, forget password...." option then it at least works for the current session, but once I swich back to the default keyring the problem persist.

I am experiencing the same issue on a Fedora 25, and Manjaro Linux both on KDE plasma 5.8.

PHPStorm Version: 2016.3.2

@Andriy: thanks.

Perhaps I did not notice this in earlier builds because I had the gnome-keyring until some time... unfortunately I had to remove that because couple of other programs were messing up which keyring to use even though I've set kwallet as default keyring.
Keepass is a good option have tried that, but found that causing Phpstorm to function slow sometimes really sloowww.
Perhaps that's another bug? Anyhow I hope I'll be able to use Kwallet in the next version.

If you are certain that such slowness occurs when switching to KeePass for storing passwords (e.g. same scenario but here it is slow with Keepass and here it's OK using Gnome Keyring) then file a bug ticket at Issue Tracker and provide all needed info:

I could not find similar existing tickets (I've searched here: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issues/IDEA?q=keepass )

@Andriy: thanks.

Actually it is the keepass enabling(?db creation process?) that is slow, in fact the whenever I try to switch it on (Keepass) PhpStorm stops responding and then I have to kill the application. I have keepass installed and using it, so I thought that there must be conflict. I've just tried that again and it did hang again, so I'm filing it as a bug then.

@Andriy: After trying to make it work found out the it's not the Keepass but the whole interface that is stuck.... After the previous kill now it keeps hanging no matter which option I choose, just doesn't want to work

No ideas why it's happening TBH.

Try leaving it running for a few minutes. This ticket seems to describe similar behaviour: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-164795

Another "freezing" ticket is https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-165017 .. but this one seem to be different.

Same thing happens with Webstorm 2016.3.3 on KDE Neon 5.9.1 which is somewhat annoying.  I opened up the authorised applications list in KDE Wallet, Webstorm doesn't appear there so has it even attempted to use it?
