PhpStorm UI sluggishness

PhpStorm is running very sluggish, up to the point that it's basically unworkable. Scrolling in files is slow and navigating through menu's is very slow as well.

I've created a YouTube screencast to demonstrate this behaviour: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Lzw_ADYyW4. I've created an empty project,  even reinstalled PhpStorm, cleared caches, tried different Java version but nothing seems to fix it.

Any ideas?

The CPU spikes when I scroll in files or navigate trough menus.

I've noticed the exact same behaviour when using Netbeans so it might be some Java related issue.

Could you please upload anywhere your idea.log file (Help > Show log in ...) and share with us?

I'm sorry but I just reinstalled my laptop, I had to get some work done and wasn't able to continue working. The good news is that a reinstall of macOS Sierra did the trick. It might have been a virus, some files that got corrupt or some conflict, I really don't know. Sorry I can't be of any further help..

The problem was my mouse, a Gigabyte Force M7, it's a gaming mouse. I think the problem has something to do with the high DPI that is not handled well by Java. Native apps work fine.
