Indexing making PyCharm unusable for lengthy period of time

Product freezes and becomes unusable whenever indexing performed 
(PyCharm 2023.2). This can persist for 15-20 minutes or longer.

This is just really poor for a professional product. Also the problem has 
been known for quite some time.

Can you try to update to the latest 2024.1.4 version? Several performance improvements were made since the version you're using.

In case the issue persists, is it project-specific or can you reproduce it on a brand new-project? 

If possible  please attach the IDE UI logs from Help | Collect Logs and Diagnostic Data and share a CPU snapshot following these steps
