Mac users - Do you face high cpu and heating up during indexing?

When I open a project and PhpStorm starts indexing it, its CPU usage as reported by iStat Menus goes above 200% and temperature reaches 80 degrees Celsius. The fans run at full speed for the next couple of minutes, depending on the size of the project. It's pretty wild and concerning. The temp usually stays between 45-65 degrees when I'm working.

I understand I'm going to see some hiccups when it's indexing a project, but is this much CPU usage and heating normal for Mac users?

Just landed here whilst looking for a similar answer to high cpu with WebStorm, so apologies if this isn't relevant to your particular issue. Since using WebStorm to develop Angular I've been plagued with high fan load, which in the recent hot weather was fantastic as you can imagine. I've just done some (very unscientific) testing of my own based on other posts, and found that if I run my "ng serve" process in a separate iTerm2 window, rather than the embedded WebStorm Terminal view, then the fan speed drops to ~1500rpm on a quiescent system rather than before when it was always above 4500rpm even when nothing was going on (in terms of user interaction). Not sure if this helps at all, but maybe that points to the fact that there's something in the Terminal view that's causing an issue?

Steved Davis We would need to inspect CPU snapshot to confirm/deny that. Please reproduce the problem for at least a minute while capturing CPU snapshot. Here's an article describing this, see the "The CPU usage is high or IDE is slow" section.
