Any update on the python plugin ?
Hi,
can someone from JetBrains give us a quick update on the roadmap for the python support ?
I'm currently working on a python project and although IDEA 8 does have some python support it is not sufficient for bigger projects.
Debugging with pdb on the command line is an interesting experience but I really don't want to do this too often and my colleagues already start suggesting NetBeans :-O
Is there a chance that a new plugin for IDEA 9 will be released before IDEA 9 is final ?
(And if there is a chance of getting more information on PyCharm it would be highly appreciated as well ;-))
Thanks in advance,
Christian

Hello Christian,
I'd rather not promise anything specific but rather announce a release after
it's done. :-) There will be an updated Python plugin for IDEA 9, it will
not include a debugger, but the debugger will be included in a future update
after the IDEA 9 release.

Dmitry,
I see the python plugin was stealth-released with IDEA 9.0. Many thanks!
The lack of this plugin for the 9 EAPs was one of the main reasons I still
had a copy of IDEA 8 installed to fall back on. I haven't given the new plugin
too much of a workout yet but at first glance it's looking very good.
