Error when attempting to add interpreter

I get the following error message when I go to File > Settings > Python Interpreter > Add 

I'm on a Mac and I'm new to Python development.

Error configuring SDK: /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/Python: /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/Python: cannot execute binary file

(exit code 126).

Please make sure that /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/Python is a valid home path for this SDK type.
