removing git

i installed GIT to see if i wanted to try it, but it seems like more than i need, and more learning than i am interested in for now ... i want to remove it, so i uninstalled it, but pycharm keeps telling me about unresolved links, etc . . how do i tell pycharm i do not want to use GIT anymore?

You can disable the integration with Git using the Settings -> Version Control tab.

What kind of unresolved links are you referring to?

well when i open a project there is a popup message that i can't seem to catch, it dissapears when i mouse over to click it and i am not fast enough ... anyway it says something about being integrated with git, but the path to git is not found anymore, ... or something about merge ... i don't know i can never read it because it quickly goes away

it would be nice if the popup message just stayed there fixed, with an option to dismiss, or click on it for more info .. the hide and seek is annoying

This message is probably put into the event log. You can open it using the message balloon button in the bottom-right corner of the PyCharm window, in the status bar.
