How to distinquish different projects in the 'Windows' drop down or 'File->reopen' project list?

Hi,
I have multiple projects under SVN control, where branches of independent projects have the same name (e.g. 2013R1 for release 1 in 2013):
Example:
proj1/trunk      /branches/2013R1      /branches/2013R2 proj2/trunk      /branches/202R1      /branches/2013R1

My problem is when I have opened proj1-2013R1 and proj2-2013R1 I cannot distinguish them in the 'Windows'-menu, and also not (when I try to reopen them if future sessions) in the File->Reopen menu - because: Both are just visible as "2013R1" in both lists.

Is there a way to modify the visible project name? I was not able to find anything in the settings.

I've tried to change the name of the .idea/2013R1.xml and modules.xml file but that didn't help (it only changed the project name in the title bar of an already opened window).

Any help is appreciated.

Hi there,

See if PyCharm has "File | Rename Project" action available (AFAIK it is was not in v2.x).

But in any case:
1. Close project in IDE
2. Navigate to your project location in your file manager – open .idea subfolder
3. Open .name file (if does not exist – create it)
4. Change text there to the desired project name. If file is empty (or you just have created it) then just enter project name in first (and the only) line.
