Weird text rendering issue in PyCharm

Hi all, I'm using PyCharm Community Ed. 3.4 and I've noticed some weird graphical issues. Mainly, it seems when the code analysis/linters kick in whenever I click on things, sometimes __vars__'s "__" characters disappear. Also, when highlighting lines sometimes the highlight cuts off the bottoms of letters on the lines above (e.g. a "y" gets its bottom cut off).

I've attached a brief screen cast showing what I mean. I'm using Oracle's JDK 7 in the screen cast, but I also tried with Open JDK (PyCharm crashes) and Oracle's JDK 8 (same results). OS is Xubuntu 14.04.

If anyone has any suggestions on why this might be occurring, I'd be glad to hear about it. I'm guessing it's either I'm using the wrong Java version, or it's a graphics driver issue or something. I've used PyCharm on other platforms before (including Xubuntu) and haven't had this issue.

$ java -version
java version "1.7.0_65"

Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.65-b04, mixed mode)

Just an update: It seems to have fixed itself after updating the system and rebooting. No clue what actually fixed it though, sorry.
