Are bug submissions acknowledged?

I accepted the update to 4.0.1.  Since then when I use <ctrl>-F or <ctrl>-R for search and search/replace, a gray area appears at the top of the editing window and covers the text that I'm editing.  It continues to grow and would eventually cover my entire editing window if I didn't close it.  I sent a screenshot with my bug report.  Thus far, there's no email to say that the bug report has been received or to give me a tracking number.  Is that what happens?

It is already annoying to see this kind of bug making it to release (the search function is such a common tool) but extremely irritating to see that these kind of bugs aren't even acknowledge. A simple "We've heard you, we are on it (or not) from someone from jetbrains would do wonders.

While we will need contact details to interact with and reward the submitter, this information will usually not be used in discussing the vulnerability. In describing the vulnerability it is important to include all necessary details required for reproducing the vulnerability.

I'm not sure what you are asking. To reproduce the bug (shown in the picture above) I just installed a fresh version of Pycharm 4.0 on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (on a virtual machine, not that it should matter). Then, when i press CTRL+F or CTRL+R in any kind of file, the search toolbar starts with a normal size but then starts growing to look like the pic above (the gray area is the part that grows continuously if I move the mouse or type text in the search area, if i do nothing, it stops growing).

I don't have the same problem but I do have the same question. Not sure if bugs reported are being acknowledged by anyone

We acknowledge this bug and we appreciate you reports to our bug tracker!
The original bug is https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-133408
It's already assigned and the fix is on its way.

Actually, the response on that bug has been pretty swift; and if you read through the bug reports, you'll see that there's a work around (switching to the IntelliJ theme), which I can confirm mitigates the problem.

I know now that bugs are acknowledged because that's what happened the second time I reported it: an entry in the bug list and a tracking number.  The first time I submitted the bug nothing happened, but then I didn't know for sure whether this was what I should expect.  After I reported the bug a second time and found other reports I found a fix – and appreciate that the process worked.
