Unable to create a C type file

I am trying to create a c file with a specific name, but clion does will only create it as a txt file.
It is as if the file already exists, but the problem is that it doesnt, there is no trace of any file with the same name.
I am even able to create the file with the specific name just with lowercase letters.
The specific name is part of the assignment guidlines, so I cant just use any other name.

Running Clion on a mac if it makes any difference.
Any ideas?

Hey Renat,

The file name is NimGame.c
I am creating it by right clicking new --> C/C++ Source File

Gal,

I tryed that file name and had created the file successfully
Looks like you had missed the "type field" of Create new C/C++ file dialog.
You should type the file name (NimGame in your case) in the Name field of that dialog and select .c/.h in the Type field. See screenshots.

I have the latest clion version (downloaded and installed two days ago) - and the the type filed does not exist ( i added a screenshot).
Since i can create any file i choose, except for NimGame, i suspect this is some kind of caching issue.
Since this also happens if i try to create a new file with a name that already exist (creating foo.c, twice resloves to one of them being created as a txt)

Gal,

I failed to reproduce it. On attempt to create a file with the name of already existing one I simply got a warning.
I should recommend you to download and install CLion 1.1 EAP https://confluence.jetbrains.com/display/CLION/Early+Access+Program#, where you can choose the file type from the list in the New File dialog. Most probably your problem will not persist there. You can learn more about the EAP and improved  New FIle dialog here: https://confluence.jetbrains.com/display/CLION/Early+Access+Program#.

Gal,

could you please send us the following information:
1. Your operating system and its version;
2. Your ptoject. If you cannot send us the project as is, send all the project file names and extensions;
3. File idea.log. Use Help | Show Log in Finder for OS X or Help | Show Log in Explorer for Windows.

We'll investigate the problem.

Thanks in advance
