Webstorm does not render parts of its UI upon opening a project

Hello,

I recently upgraded from WebStrom 2016.2 to 2016.3, and after the upgrade, most parts of the UI are not rendered when a project is opened. It does not show the project sidebar (and toggling it from the view menu does not help). I am also unable to view or edit any source code :-) Closing/reopening projects does not help, neither does changing the theme.

I'm running WebStorm on Ubuntu 16.04 with an i3 window manager.
