Monsanto-esque license policy now in effect

This post will be deleted by the new JetBrains admins shortly, so enjoy it while it lasts.
I bought webstorm a year ago, the license agreement said I OWNED the software and that minor updates were free. As a poor young dev this was a bit of an investment but I believed in the software and forked over the hard-earned cash.
Yesterday, after being prompted to do so by the IDE, I updated Webstorm by a minor version as usual, something I've done a few times in the past with no issue. Lo and behold, this snivelling piece of rubbish DELETED MY LICENSE, uninstalled my legit version, and installed a new JETBRAINS RANSOMWARE version of the software, telling me that my license was no longer valid and that I had to pay a subscription to get the software back. The software I had paid to own.
This JetBrains-Monsanto style, mafia business tactic doesn't fly with me. They came in to my house and deleted something I owned without my consent. Where is my license? Poof! Gone. Jetbrains stomped on my crops and are trying to force me to buy their new crappy version. No thanks.
I installed VISUAL STUDIO CODE and it is BRILLIANT. Works out the box, the new intellisense is magic, multiple terminals, Angular2 projects compile and run like a dream, plus the growing collection of plugins solves every problem I have at my new job.
GoodBye JetBrains, you scum, I'm out forever, and I'm going to tell the world what you are doing to people and their hard-earned money every day.

looks like you have updated 2016.2.* to 2016.3. It's a major update, not minor.

You need to uninstall it and download previous version from https://confluence.jetbrains.com/display/WI/Previous+WebStorm+Releases
