Php files with mixed syntax won't open in editor

Php files with mixed (Php+Html) syntax won't open in editor or it will just show "Loading" forever.

Marking files as plain text allows me to open them but I lose all php functionality, if I revert back to php marking I get the syntax highlighting (and I mean just the color scheming) for php + html but no other php functionality (code info, autocomplete, closing tags  etc.)

OS: Fedora release 23
