Maven Dependency Graph

I still get full corruption whenever I try to view a maven dependency graph for scala projects. The graph seems to be displayed correctly at first, but if I scroll all the strings turn to box-characters. After that all of Idea messages and strings are box-characters forcing a restart. Its been this way for about a month or so. I'm not seeing this behavior with java only projects. What could it be in the scala plugin that would give maven such grief?
