"Delete" key in Apple laptop keyboards

The Apple Macbook keyboards do not have a 'forward delete' key.  "Delete" is backspace and at the top right where one would expect it ;)

I've searched through the key maps but I can't find a 'delete char under cursor' key anywhere -- This is mapped to the delete key with arrow
which (on a full keyboard) is located with the 'home", "end" & cursor keys.

So how do I map a key to delete char forward to ^D ? (*)  Clearly I'm completely missing something obvious!

* as an emacs user for at least 20 years I end up invoking the debugger at least every five minutes :)

Hi,
Not entirely sure if this is what you are after but forward delete on Apple laptop is fn + backspace.

Thanks for the response!  No it isn't quite what I was after but useful info all the same.  And something I did not know.

What I want to do is remap the key in the RM preferences so I can get ^D mapped to that function.  I have been through the key maps several times and every other conceivable function seems to be there except "Delete char under cursor".  If no one points out that I'm blind (this has happend before ;)) I'll submit a ticket to get it added because it must be an oversight.

Yep, this it. I would have never thought of looking in the menu keymaps! I still think that having a separate entry in the editor keymaps is needed. Everything else imaginable is there....

Thanks very much for the info Matt!
