change color of editor tabs?

Is there anyway to change the color of the editor tabs?  I have the tabs show on the right, and it's hard to tell which tab is selected.  I've tried changing the "look and feel" setting but none of the current themes make it any more visible.  I'm using Mac OS X Snow Leopard.  Please see the attached screenshot, thanks!

Hello? Any idea on this?  The color scheme makes for a very poor UI experience.

Hello bobics,

There is currently no UI for configuring the color of tabs, and I don't think
that adding a configuration option is a good solution for this problem; the
tabs should be readable by default. We'll consider the possibility of improving
the default look & feel.
