Mouse Right-Click Doesn't Stay In Focus

Hey all,

I'm running rubymine 91.4 (rc2).  I notice that when I right-click to open the context menu, the menu does not stay in focus.  It appears and disappears.  I have to hold the right-click (mouse-down) for ~1 second until the menu appears.  When it appears, I have to move my cursor and then release the right-click in order to the menu stay open.  From there I select the menu-option I want.

Has anyone else had a similar issue?

System info:

Ubuntu 9.10 karmic
ATI Radeon HD 3xxx
Thinkpad T400
Java 1.6.0_16 32-bit and 64-bit (issue seen on both)
fglrx 9.10 graphics driver (issue seen on both)
radeon x.org driver (issue seen on both)
compiz and metacity window managers (issue seen on both)

Thanks!

Hi Brian,

I've been using RubyMine on Ubuntu for quite a long time and haven't faced with such a problem. I'm running Ubuntu Karmic x64, nvidia binary drivers and Compiz enabled.
What Look and Feel do you use? See File | Settings | Appearance | Look and Feel

Hey Oleg,

My Look and Feel is:

Controls: Human-Clearlooks
Window Border: New Wave
Icons: Mist
Pointer: Default

I had tried Rubymine on another machine (Ubuntu 8.04, compiz, nvidia drivers) and did not experience this issue.  I've only seen this issue on my box with ATI.

And what about RubyMine Look and Feel? Most likely it's Java error, but could you please experiment with different Java look and feels?
They can be configured in File | Settings | Appearance | Look and Feel

Woops, sorry about that.  I misunderstood your suggestion.

Rubymine Look and Feels:

Nimbus -- issue? yes
GTK+ -- issue? yes
Metal -- issue? no
Alloy Acid -- issue? yes
Alloy Bedoin -- issue? no
Alloy Default -- issue? yes
Alloy Glass -- issue? no
CDE/Motif -- issue? yes

I was unable to load any of the JGoodies themes.  I noticed that for the themes that did not have the issue, the context menu appeared correctly, but it was slow (seemed to take longer than it should to appear after right-clicking).

In any case, I at least have one workaround!

I also have this problem.  It first showed up when I downloaded RubyMine 2.0, I was running openSUSE 11.1 at the time, since have upgraded to 11.2.  I run NVIDIA drivers and no compiz.  I can seem to run some of the themes and get the menu to stay in focus.  For example, the default theme seems to work but Metal does not.

Hi Joseph,

I also have this problem.  It first showed up when I downloaded RubyMine 2.0, I was running openSUSE 11.1 at the time, since have upgraded to 11.2.  I run NVIDIA drivers and no compiz.  I can seem to run some of the themes and get the menu to stay in focus.  For example, the default theme seems to work but Metal does not.

This problems are connected with Look&Feel realization itself. Most of the Look&Feels available in RubyMine are provided by Sun(Oracle).
We've done some improvements to make RubyMine avoid L&F bugs, but still some of them have left.

Oleg
