JavaFX supported by Intellij 8

Hello matthewarena,

*Is there a current plan and development for support of JavaFX in
forthcoming Intellij 8 ?*

Really miss the "intelligence" of Intellij in developing JavaFX
application. Intellij has automated a lot of unnecessary steps by
making the best assumption. This is something that I find wanting in
Netbeans, at least in JavaFX development.

JetBrains is not doing any development on JavaFX support and has no plans
to support it in version 8 timeframe. Brian Goetz from Sun did some work
on a JavaFX plugin for IntelliJ IDEA, but I don't know how close to production
quality it currently is. Another third-party plugin is http://plugins.intellij.net/plugin/?id=1523

Just out of curiosity, what kind of JavaFX projects are you working on? Are
they hobby or professional?

Another third-party plugin is http://plugins.intellij.net/plugin/?id=1523 is next to useless as it is not updated. It is buggy and troublesome and one need to explicitly set configuration information for any JavaFX script file to run it.

Brian from Sun could be doing some work but nothing beats what deliver by Intellij. The contrast between Netbean editing and intellisense and thats of Intellij speak for itself.

I'm doing project for both professional and hobby too. Project is building somekind of graph ware, manipulate graph in real time, bubble and cluster link manipulation.

Pretty disappointed to hear that Intellij has no plan to support JavaFX.

Will Intellij seriously consider add support for JavaFX ?

I'd also really like to see Intellij support JavaFX. It's going to be a major component of java - possibly replacing swing. I doubt it would take much work to support it.

Since JavaFX is based on Swing, there's no way JavaFX could replace it.

I doubt it would take much work to support it.

JavaFX is a separate new language, and providing adequate support for it
does take much work, whether you doubt it or not.

I'm also starting to like JavaFX and I'm starting to see what it may be useful for. The language has impressed me so far. It looks clean. I would encourage you to at least have compiler and syntax support by the next update of version 8. And in version 9 have more intelligent features. I'm starting to use Netbeans which has some really nice features but I've been an Intellij user for a long time and do like the Hibernate support and strong support of Java. Get to work.

Netbeans's syntax highlighting is more pain rather than useful and dont work well if you are mixing FX script with good old Java..

You can also configure external tools to compile and run your apps.
