IRC Channel?

The 80's and 90's are still alive and well on irc.freenode.net.

I am idle in various channels in IRC all day, and just yesterday I was wondering why there was no channel for IntelliJ Community Ed. and Open API.

There are at least 10 channels for Eclipse. Why not one for IntelliJ?

I don't know that anything will ever replace IRC for open source projects.

An official channel would be nice, but if there was interest we could make an unofficial one.

The answer to this is very simple. Monitoring email, Twitter, YouTrack and forums (and sometimes StackOverflow and Confluence comments) puts enough of a load on the team that we aren't eager to have yet another place where people could talk to us.

If you'd like to set up an inofficial channel, this is of course welcome.

I know you guys are busy. I am not complaining, I just thought it would be a nice place to build some community.

It might be hard to get off the ground without some publicity though.

Is anyone here interested?

Any chance the Jetbrains folks can help publicize the "unoffical" channels?

For anyone who ends up here, the official one is #idea-users on irc.freenode.net.
