Yourkit plugin...

Does anyone know if this works. It isn't in my available plugins list and it doesn't appear to have been touched since last September. However, it also says that it works with version 3.1. If that version is referring to the Yourkit Version then I guess it must be pretty new after all.

Is anyone else using this plugin? Do you have opinions about it?

thanks in advance,

alan

YourKit isn't part of the JetBrains plugins suite it's a profiler written by another company. If you have it as part of your installation you must have installed it yourself at some point. I use it myself, though I've only been using it since October, however it does work and quite frankly is a brilliant tool which is quickly becoming an invaluable member of my software suite.

If you haven't installed it yourself then you must be using the Irida EAP, which comes with a version bundled in it specifically to help JetBrains find faults in Irida. I don't think YourKit will be part of the released Irida unless you buy your own copy, but it's certainly part of the EAP.

If your version is 3.1 then it's pretty new since 3.1.1 only came out at the beginning of this month and there was only around 2 weeks between the 3.1.1 and 3.1 releases.

Irida EAP has a stripped down version 3.1.1 integrated, without any
plugin. It can be used only to take memory and cpu snapshots of IDEA
itself. AFAIK there's no possibility to profile own applications with it.

Thanks for the feedback. It all became clear once I read more of the YourKit website. My confusion arose because there is a YourKit plugin 3.1 on the plugins page that hadn't been touched since September '03. I'm still not sure what that's about, but the plugin I'm working with now is the one that comes with the YK product.

Thanks for the feedback.
