word completion? (with/without vi plugin)

I'm trying to figure out if IDEA has a way to do simple word completion of words in a file. I'm used to this behavior in jEdit and vim, yet can't seem to figure if IDEA can do it? According to some forum posts it looks likt there was supposed to be shift-space as an option but people have posted that that is not working. I'm using the vi plugin but can't seem to get word completion using that either (ctrl-n or ctrl-p).

None of the VIM word completion is implemented. I use Ctrl-Space, and Ctrl-Shift-Space all the time though for name completion - works just fine.

BTW - see http://ideavim.sourceforge.net/vim/index.txt for the complete list of what is implemented in the VIM plugin.

Wow this is weird Rick...

I couldn't get ctrl-space to work and then I realized ctrl-E wasn't bringing up the pop up for open files either. Turning off the vim emunlationg from tools menu didn't help bring it back, but when I went to settings-- keymap, and set it back to my other default keymap, things were fine and then I was also able to switch back to vim emulation from the tools menu and all is working. Odd.

Toggling the VIM Emulator menu item must be done in coordination with setting the active keymap.

VIM Emulator On requires VIM keymap be active.
VIM Emulator Off is best with some other keymap active.

Sound like you got it all working - good.
