[ANN] ShowEncodingPlugin : 944-01

Hi all,

Here is the first release of my ShowEncodingPlugin.

The purpose of this plugin is to show the encoding of the current editor
(opened and selected editor).
It is especially useful when dealing with files written with different
charsets (windows-cp1252, UTF-8, UTF-16, etc...)
The charset used will be shown in the status bar.
There are two ways to invoke the action :
- CTRL-ALT-U or CTRL-ALT-SHIFT-U (you may remap it to any shortcut you wish
of course)
- or invoke the context-menu inside the editor, and select "Show Encoding".

This plugin has been developped and tested with build #944.

For download and for more information, go to the Wiki :

Any comments welcomed !

Cool. Very handy.

In a perfect world, it would probably be best if this were "always on", showing the encoding for the current file in the status bar whenever a file is opened, without prompting. Other than that, this does exactly what I would want.

Thanks.

Well, that's why I filed a request a few months ago :

It should be in the status bar, I agree with you ;)

In case you have a problem with this plugin using the default shortcut, you
can remap the shortcut to something more suitable.
I've seen ppl having trouble with CTRL-ALT-U.
Otherwise, inside the editor, this functionality can be reached through the
context menu.

In the status bar, it shows "Prefix Key Pressed..."
Does anybody know what it means ?
