SQLQueryPlugin: OracleResultSetMetaData.getColumnClassName()

When I issue queries using SQLQueryPlugin, instead of the expected results I see this text (in red):

Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong? (I configured the connection using the Oracle Thin Driver if that matters.) Is it possible that SQLQueryPlugin relies on a later version of JDBC (I didn't see mention of such a requirement at http://www.intellij.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/SQLQueryPlugin (space intentionally here because of tracker bug))?

I think this is a bug in my plugin. It seems that a column in your query result returns a string array as column class and there is currently no handling for that.

Does this error happens always or only if specific columns or columns with a specific type are included in your query?

Regards,
Stefan.

Not as far as I can tell. I get the same result for a single column query (e.g. "select dispatch_id from alert_dispatch") seemingly regardless of the column's type. (I've specifically tried selecting single column with types of "number(11)" and "varchar2(32)".)

Not sure if this will help, but I will attach the "JDBC debug" output from another tool, SQL Squirrel, for the single column queries against the number(11) and varchar2(32) fields, respectively.

It looks like this is a driver problem. The method getColumnClassName is a JDBC2.0 method and is not supported by some drivers. I would suggest to use the newest version of the oracle driver.

Bye, Stefan.

You're right--I tried loading in a JDBC 2.0 driver, and SQLQueryPlugin now works. Thank you very much for your help.

May I suggest that you note the dependency on JDBC 2.0 on the SQLQueryPlugin "home page" on the TWiki? (It is not an unreasonable dependency, but it's potentially helpful to be explicit about it.)
