plugin for editing java files that aren't in your project???

Once upon a time there was a discussion of how hard it is to try to
use IDEA on loose java files (i.e. files that aren't in your project).

I had thought that someone said they were creating a plugin to handle
those issues, but I just looked and can't find such a plugin.

Any leads?

You may open any file in IDEA with File | Open File...

I remember a while back that Alexey Efimov had put together a solution that may help you. If I recall properly it let you double-click on .java files from within windows explorer to have that file opened in IDEA. (I think it used RMI to pass the .java file to an existing IDEA instance.)
