I don't think that inserting tabs after text is a good idea -> if tab size
shanges from one editor to another the text becomes completely misaligned.

Tabs should only be applied from the beggining of the line and up to the
first text in the line.

Right that's what that setting is for. You can set Tabifier so that it will
leave the tabs that precede the type and have spaces inserted between the
type and name.
