I think it just means so that you can't see your output directory(and files
listed therein) in your list of files for that module. Also, it will exclude
the files/folders from being in your source if you happen to store your
source/compiled classes in the same spot :)

It means that the module output path is automatically marked as an excluded folder. I don't think it could be more clear than that.
