License/subscription expiry date - confused.

Answered

Recently IDEA started to warn me about my subscription expiry:

08:59:04 Upgrade Subscription          Your IDEA upgrade subscription will expire in 24 days.          Renew your subscription before 2015/10/10 to get new IDEA versions as soon as they are released.          Renew now...          Remind me in a week          Do not remind again

However, when I check my JetBrains account, I got the following:
subscription.jpg
Could anyone explain why there are two different expiry dates? Also, I'd expect prolonged subscription to be till 2016/10/10 or 2017/02/06 (depends which expiry date is the "real" one) but it reads 2016/12/31...

Hi Daniel,

Please note that this is not the license expiration, but "upgrade subscription" expiration. The warning you see in IDEA is based on the license data that is currently loaded and "active" in the IDE. If you renewed your license, this message may appear because the older license is still active in the IDE - just re-enter the key or re-authorise the client from your JB account.

This happened to me but the email about the renewal gave no indication I needed to go to anywhere and download anything to keep using the IDE. Your terminology is confusing and my IntelliJ is now acting really wierd because it got to the 0 day and died while erasing something in the configuration, I guess. I'm having to reload pom files and it can't find folder full of files and such AFTER going and downloading a license that, in my terminology, was renewed by JetBrains getting paid actual US dollars. A renewed license should not be considered to expire. I should not have to do anything to keep using a tool I paid the yearly fee for. And, finally, it should not ever erase my settings for anything.

Hello Lee,

IDEA doesn't remove user settings on license end. Do you face importing problems with every project? Are there any other settings (except folder) are missing?

I have had no problems with Intellij during the 3 years I used the community version nor the last year when I paid you for this version. I've never had a problem when I clone a new set of Java code from git and open it in Intellij except for occasionally having to tell it to load a pom (but I have auto loading of poms turned off so I expect that).

I don't actually make many changes to the default settings. Its too hard to remember what I changed. It lost Spring and Hibernate settings as well as the source/test/resource type settings.

Lee,

Did you make manual changes in configuration for Maven project? In this case IDEA might clear changes on reimport because pom.xml is used for project configuration.
