WebLogic server not found

I am running idea-IU-139.224.1 (14) and WebLogic 12.1.3.0.0.

I have local install of WLS that works from the command line, and a remote install at slc08uyu that runs fine and is accessible on my network.

When I try to run a remote session (or try to test the connection) I get this error.

Error running slc08uyu: Unable to connect to the slc08uyu:7003, reason: Server not found

Thanks for the help,
Glenn

Hello Glenn

Please make sure your configuration is correct: username, password, type of wls server and its settings (admin, managed, cluster), host and port.

Regards,
Nikolay

Hi,

Thanks for the response.  I have attached a screen shot.  The documentation at
https://www.jetbrains.com/idea/help/run-debug-configuration-weblogic.htm
does not seem to match this dialog.

I have a local config that runs.

Glenn

Glenn, you are using port 7003 to connect. Are you sure this port is listened by wls? Port 7001 is used as default.
Could you please check your listened port in the wls admin console (Environment - server - server_name(admin) - listen port enabled)

Hi Nikolay,

Yes, port 7003 is correct.  I am running one WLS server.  In the past I have used the autodeploy directory in that server ("AdminServer").  Now I'm trying to use IDEA.

Thanks,
Glenn

Thanks, Glenn, got it.
One more question - I can see you used your hostname as a server name (slc08uyu), but it should be the name of the admin server from config. (Environment - server - server_name(admin) in the console). Are they the same in your case?

Hi Nikolay,

I was able to get the remote connection going.  I haven't tested debugging, yet, but if I have an issue I will post again.

I've attached a screenshot of the successful configuration.  Your comment about the server name was helpful.

I admit that I find the configuration dialog confusing. There are many things I could have done (and did do) wrong there.  Here are some notes I took while struggling through this.  Whoever is working on this dialog may find this helpful.

There is an "Application server" choice.  I set up "WebLogic 12.1.3.0.0" using the settings wizard and choosing the installation directory of my local WLS install.

There is an "Open browser" section, but I'm not doing anything with JavaScript, and the field seems to be about JavaScript files.  I put the the remote server address in there, but it looks like it should be a JavaScript file?  Perhaps this should be blank?  For the User and Password I put in the credentials to open the WLS console, not the app web page.  Perhaps that's wrong, too?  For "Connect to:" I chose "admin server" because I only run one server, as explained previously.  Then there is a "Server field":  is this just the server name "slc08uyu" or the admin or the the app login page?  Does it need the port?

Next there is a "Remote Connection Setting" with Host and Port fields.  The host seems to be slc08uyu, but is the port supposed to be the app port or the debug port?

Also, I am going through a proxy.  IDEA is configured for the proxy and seems to work fine.  I have a run/debug config for my local WLS and it works fine, too.

Thanks,
Glenn

Glenn,
Thanks for the point. The documentation is constantly improving, hope it will be less confusing soon.

Nikolay
