I am a little unsure what to expect from the task management feature.
Changelists have been there for quite a while. What else is on the roadmap?
Some feedback for current state:
in the toolbar dropdown or sometimey they just vanish or fail to restore their context.
is out of date (there is no "Activate Task" action).
For the future there are lots of integration points with Jira I can imagine:
Be able to browse issues and filter issues (e.g. by reporter/assigner)
When I open a task assign the issue to me
When I open a task, set it "In Progress"
When I commit changes, set the issue it to "Resolved"
When I commit changes let me select the "Resolution"
When I commit changes, add the svn revision/remark/file names/paths as a comment
to the issue. (This one I would especially like. Both Jira server and svn server
configuration is way out of our reach, so we can't integrate them another way.)
Before I start to create dozens of Jira issues it would be nice to get
some feedback from JetBrains about the direction this is meant to evolve.
Some questions that come to my mind immediately:
- How much functionality of the bug tracker can sensibly be added to IDEA?
- How to deal with different configurations of Jira. AFAIK Jira is very flexible
in its setup. For example rights can be configured in detail, so that certain
workflows/transitions are not possible for some users.
- Will you only support the common denominator of bug tracker features,
or are hooks for product (Jira, Mantis, ...) possible, so that
