Hello chris,

SVN 1.6 was released today:
http://subversion.tigris.org/svn_1.6_releasenotes.html
Are there plans to add 1.6 support to IntelliJ 8.1.X by any chance?
Please? :)

We're still waiting for SVN 1.6 support to be implemented in SVNKit, but
once it's there it will be included in both IDEA 8.1.x and IDEA 9 branches.

Hi Dmitry,

does this mean us poor 7.0.x users will be left out in the rain alone without an option to update our SVN clients to 1.6.0 ?

BTW, this is what I meant with LTS (long term support) a couple of days ago.

So far we don't plan to release any new updates for IDEA 7.0.x. You might
be able to simply replace the SVNKit jar in the distribution with a new version,
but at the moment I have no idea whether it's going to work or if they have
made some incompatible changes to the API.

So this basically renders a software bought about 6 month ago useless for me. (Damn me for having bought this about tree weeks to early so no free updates to 8.x for me...)

Just out of curiosity - Subversion 1.6 was just released a few days ago.  Most places I've worked are still on 1.4.  Do you really need 1.6 support that quickly?

We're a 1.5 house and we plan to upgrade to 1.6 once the IDEs support it as it's really just 1.5 w/bug fixes and a couple new features.  The jump from 1.4 is a bit more substantial, but we did that when 1.5.1 was released.

It looks like the first beta of SVNKit 1.3.0 w/SVN 1.6 support is coming out next week:

I just happened to update my development system and stumbled over svn now being at 1.6.0.
Sure, i can downgrade my svn client and do a fresh checkout of the repository -
but what really makes me wonder is that according to Dmitry there aren't even any plans to officially backport this to 7.0.x (which was still sold just 6 month ago...)

SVNKit 1.3.0 doesn't work for me with IDE 7.0.5. I just replaced 2 files in svn4idea plugin:

javasvn.jar by svnkit.jar (1.3.0)
trilead.jar by trilead.jar (1.3.0)

IDEA freezes while opening project and it doesn´t paints anything.

I know that development of IDEA 7 is stopped, but this version is enough for me. Is there a trick to use IDEA 7 with SVN 1.6?

Attached is a IDEA log file.

A small workaround that might be useful is that if you are not using any SVN1.6 specific features you can checkout you project with the subversion 1.5 client through IntelliJ and continue working on your project.

It is not very usefull information, because official 1.6 support of idea is in development, so we have not new svn4idea.jar for idea. Аs a result we still havent got full support 1.6 subversion wc format by idea.

Dmitry,

So now that SVNKit 1.3.0 has shipped (as noted by someone else here)... can we get support for it added to 8.1.2?  This is a really big deal for our company...

Also, while you're at it.. can you guys please do this as well:
http://www.jetbrains.net/jira/browse/IDEA-21713  "Add option to use "svn blame -g" (or "--use-merge-history") when viewing SVN annotations"

Thanks!

8.1.2 will be released very soon (this week hopefully), and we won't have
time to integrate SVN 1.6 into it. SVN 1.6 will be supported in 8.1.3.

Does idea 8.1.1 support new directory format of svn? Without it we cannot use subversion 1.6 with idea. Svnkit cannot help because idea requires new version of svn4idea.jar.

I just grabbed the first 8.1.3 EAP and SVN 1.6 support appears to be working!  Thanks!

Any chance we can get this into 8.1.3 now?

It's just been sitting in the IDEA: Feedback project....
Please :-)
