IntelliJ IDEA + AIR + Flash Pro IDE

Is there a way to edit, compile and debug a Flash Pro IDE AIR project from IntelliJ IDEA? Meaning, I have a Flash Pro .fla with a library linked to .as class files. I want to edit the class files in IntelliJ IDEA and preferably compile and debug from IntelliJ IDEA.

ActionScript/Flex support in IntelliJ IDEA is based on Flex SDK + AIR SDK or standalone AIR SDK (bundle with ASC 2.0). So compiler comes from Flex SDK (also called legacy mxmlc/compc compiler) or from standalone AIR SDK (called ActionScript Compiler 2.0). Mxmlc/compc compiler is able to compiler pure AS, Flex and AIR apps as soon as they consist of *.as and *.mxml files. ASC 2.0 can compile *.as sources only. I don't know what your Flash Pro project contains. If *.as and *.mxml sources only - then yes, you can configure project in IntelliJ IDEA. *.fla files can't be compiled by Flex or ASC 2.0 compiler.

Makes sense, thanks.

So IntelliJ cannot compile a .fla, but can it be configured to:
1. Call Flash Pro to compile
2. Connect to AIR debugger
3. Debug source in IntelliJ IDEA

This is what I currently do with FlashDevelop on PC (not available on OSX, which I'm currently using).

Cheers.

Yes, that's true. 'Flash Remote Debug' run confiugration may be of use.
